Concept Mapping

As a graduate student I had the fortune and privilege to study with Professor Cindy Kern. In her course, I was introduced to the idea of Concept Mapping, and since then it has become a staple in my classroom.
I was fortunate in that concept mapping was unknown to me at the start, so I did not presume that they must be linear. Many examples I have found in textbooks and other activities seem to give this impression (Figure 1).
